Epidemic of Fake Job Applicants Overwhelming Fake Recruiters

Lahore, Pakistan – Fareed was not having a good day. His job was to find at least ten Americans on LinkedIn searching for work which he could trick into sharing personal information and paying for bogus "resume editing" services. Instead, he found his inbox overflowing with fake job applicants.

"It's outrageous," he said. "They're all using ChatGPT to generate perfect-sounding resumes to trick me into sharing information and hiring them for a role they'll never actually do."

He sighed deeply. "It's making it impossible for an honest scammer to make a living these days."

LinkedIn could not be reached for comment, stating only that they take the security of their millions of fake accounts very seriously.
