Gardener Working up Courage to Ask Jesus to Stop Cursing His Plants

Bethany – Josephus of Bethany, a local gardener looked on nervously as Jesus and his disciples walked through his garden.

"Please don't," he mumbled softly as Jesus held his arm aloft, pointing to a nearby fig tree.

"May no one ever eat fruit from you again," intoned Jesus, the Son of God, the tree visibly wilting in front of him.

"Um, Jesus," tried Josephus again as he approached, though the Messiah did not seem to hear him. "Could you, maybe, you now, not curse my plants?"

Several apostles who witnessed the tree-cursing, reported that the act reprsented an important spiritual metaphor, though they declined to state exactly what that was. None reported noticing any gardener.

Jesus could not be reached for comment.
