Park Rangers Guard Last Remaining White Cornerback

Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
The last surviving white cornerback has been placed under 24 hour protection by park rangers, to protect him from poachers. The only remaining example of his species, he lives out his days peacefully grazing and practicing drills, under the watchful eyes of his guardians.
"He's a majestic creature," said Omondo Kamau. "I'm just happy to be able to provide him some protection."
White cornerbacks were once numerous, but their population fell precipitously during the last century, causing the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to mark them first as endangered, then critically endangered. Now, with only living example remaining, the species is on the verge of being marked extinct.
Attempts to save the species have so far met with little success.
Kamau remains philosophical. "Nothing lasts forever," he intones, vigilantly scanning the plains for threats.
