"They Killed This Chicken Dead," Announces Toddler to Dinner Guests

Burlington, VT – Noting that the chicken which his family and their friends were about to consume was, in fact, dead, four year old Jeremy Hanson decided to share this important fact with his dinner companions.
"They killed this chicken dead," he loudly announced, pointing to remove any doubt about the chicken in question.
His statement was met with a stunned silence from the dinner guests and what appeared to be a laugh from the boy's father, which he attempted to mask as a cough.
"Yes, we're eating chicken," said his mother, clearly hoping to defuse the situation. She failed.
"It's dead," insisted Jeremy, before thoughtfully asking, "How did they kill it?"
This led to a heated exchange between the boy's parents as his father attempted to explain the intricacies of modern animal farming, while his mother attempted to change the topic to passing the salad.
Sources close to the family reported that this was not the first time Jeremy had made such an observation. When asked to comment, they boy's mother sighed audibly, before refilling her wine glass.
Asked about his statement, Jeremy added "I like chicken, but I like hot dogs more." He then noted that they too, were killed dead.
