Trump Orders Gulf of Mexico Be Renamed Gulf of American Airlines

Washington – President Trump today amended his earlier executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico, after selling the naming rights to American Airlines.

Trump declined to share the financial details of the sponsorship, insisting only that it was a "beautiful deal, just beautiful."

American Airlines released a statement saying they were "proud to be able to put our name on such a majestic piece of geography." They insisted they would be good stewards of the gulf, and are "committed to preserving its natural beauty."

The deal has led to speculation which other landmarks might be renamed under similar sponsorship deals. The President remained cagey about details, saying only that there were many talks in place, before speculating on the possibility of the "Trump Grand Canyon." His aides later downplayed this suggestion.
